Wigan 1-3 Everton

Well I have put of writing this as much as I can. The result was not on keeping with the way we played for chunks of the game, but as is shown in football its the chances you take not make.

It did all start so so well for Latics. Di Santo scoring his third goal of the season and looking in excellent form.

Yet it all went wrong although we have fair share of possession and created a good few chances. We couldn’t score another.

It told in the end, when on the half hour mark Phil Jagielka headed home to draw Everton level.

On came the second half, we worked hard and got back in possession but we were unable to take advantage.

Everton prowled and waited for their chance to take the lead.

It came through their new Argentinan strikers, who headed past Ali for the home side. Then in stoppage time came the sucker punch. Ross Drenthe smashed the ball into the goal for the third goal for an Everton win.

It got worse for Wigan who had news of Rodalega’s injury to deal with. The talisman strikers was taken off the pitch mid way through the second half. The news came that it could be as bad as a ruptured knee ligament, which would rule him out for the season.

So nothing good to take from the game?

Yes and no, Rodallega’s injury could seriously be a blow to the side, yet the rise of Di Santo is a massive plus.

The strikers has bagged three goals this season and looks like he could get more, just a matter of time before he does.

As for the match, we played well and could have and should have won. Yet not taking our chances shows and rightly cost us the game. Every game is a learning curve the team just has to rebuild and move on now.
